Aniplay and Urusai Con are pleased to invite one or two cosplayers to represent Bulgaria at the new international competition, The Ultimate Balkan Cosplay Championship (UBCC). Urusai Con and UBCC will take place in Serbia, Belgrade, on June 12–14. The event will be held at the Sava Center, the largest congress and cultural venue in this part of Europe. The main hall can accommodate over 4,000 people and provides an unparalleled capacity for a major regional final.
Competition Requirements during Aniplay:
- Participants must have Bulgarian citizenship.
- Participants may compete solo or as a duo.
- Participants must be at least 18 years old by the date of UBCC.
- Participants must have costumes that are at least 70% handmade.
- Participants must wear costumes of official characters.
- Participants must be able to attend UBCC on June 13.
Prizes for the selected solo or duo participants:
- Round-trip transportation to the event (by bus)
- Hotel accommodation
- Award categories:
Ultimate Champion - UBCC Ultimate Champion, awarded to the winner of the competition representing their country (solo or duo)
Best Craftsmanship - awarded for exceptional costume quality, including sewing, armor, wigs, makeup, props, and overall craftsmanship
Best Duo - awarded for the best coordinated duo performance
Audience Choice - awarded based on fan votes
Special Jury Recognition / Special Mention - awarded by the jury for innovation, originality, or outstanding effort
Winners in the categories will receive official certificates and special medals recognizing their achievements. The UBCC Ultimate Champion will receive a prestigious trophy.
All representatives will receive sponsor gift packages.
Additional requirements expected from the winners during UBCC:
1. Prohibited actions on stage
- Pyrotechnics, fireworks, lighters, open flames
- Liquids of any kind (water guns, filled bottles, etc.)
- Sharp or dangerous weapons (except safe replicas made by participants)
- Throwing confetti, glitter, feathers, or potentially hazardous materials
- Any action or item that could endanger participants, the audience, or staff
- Performances must be suitable for a general audience. Any form of offensive or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated (e.g., homophobia, racism, sexism, discrimination based on disability, hate speech, or other inappropriate content)
2. Performance duration
- Solo: maximum 2 minutes
- Duo: maximum 3 minutes
3. Costume and props
- Props must be safe, pre-approved, and easy to handle on stage.
- Participants are responsible for the construction, stability, and safety of their props.
- The costume may be the one used for the qualification or a new one made specifically for UBCC. Both costumes must comply with UBCC rules.
